ORANGE CAKE, SPINACH RONDELLE AND PICKLETS

Every Wednesdays I spend the day with a friend for a chat and at the same time to cook for our family... That way we have a great time together socializing and we don't have to stress out at dinner time... It became a very enjoyable get together as well as a productive one!!! It got to a stage that our husbands always look forward to our "surprise meal" at the end of the day. Yesterday we did a beautiful ORANGE CAKE made with the whole orange, including skin which gave the cake this wonderful smell and aroma... It is a flourless cake and we used almond meal which made it soo moist... And as a finish touch we drizzled a sugar syrup over warm cooked cake... Absolutely divine!

Our savory dish was called: SPINACH RODELLE
This dish is made with overlapped fresh lazanhe sheets which we filled with a mixture of spinach, onion, bacon, ham, cheese and bechamel sauce. Then we rolled sheets to form a Swiss roll, wrap with glad wrap and put in freezer for about 1/2 hour until firm enough to cut into 2cm slices. Put slices into a greased baking dish and pour blue cheese sauce (cream and cheese) on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan and bake for 40 min in 180 degrees oven. As you can see, the looks of the dish itself isn't a fantastic one, however the taste...MMMMM... Honestly I never ate a pasta dish soo marvelous as this one!!! It will be part of my "Buffet" menu! To complete I made a simple Caesar Salad to complement this dish.

Today my kids didn't go to school as the weather was horrible this morning. For morning tea I decided to make them some PICKLETS which turned out very cute and tasty when sandwiched with strawberry conserve. The recipe I took it from Bessemer's website and I used their griddle pan which made the work very "clean and easy". This cookware range from Bessemer really is unique and one of the kind!!! I just love my Bessemers casserole, wok and frypan!
