MERMAID CAKE
Yesterday I made this cake to give as a gift to a friend's daughter who was turning four years old. The party theme is "Mermaid" and her favorite color (at the moment) is lilac (lavender color), so I decided to make a mermaid sitting on a rock with some sea creatures and shells around her (made from sugar paste and marzipan). I took the idea from a cake I saw in one of my many baking books, however I did some modifications which I believe made the cake even more cute. Everything you see apart from the bigger shells are eatable. The base was a vanilla cake filled with strawberry conserve and buttercream frosting. The "rock" was made of chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and topped with melted chocolate covered popcorn.

The party was at Luna Park and it was an success. My friend said that it was delicious and she received many great comments regarding my cake... I am happy that her gorgeous daughter enjoyed her party and that she loved my present.
This mini cake I made with left over frosting from the mermaid cake above. I just baked some white cakes with my tiny cake baking tins... They are so cute!!! They turned up very pretty and my daughter was filling guilt in eating them...hahaha...
